Deck skirting with Decktec™
1. Cut Decktec™ to fit your studs
Often, deck skirting boards are smaller than the Decktec system, but did you know it’s simple to cut Decktec™ to the exact height needed?
- First cut Decktec to the right size that correctly covers the studs and horizontal supports
- Position the Decktec so it’s horizontally aligned
- Then nail it to your studs
When installing Decktec, extend it past the studs until it meets the horizontal supports. This way, your skirting will fully cover the entire side of the deck, leaving no gaps at the top or bottom.
2. Add your decking
Adding your decking is simple now that your Decktec™ system is in place. Instead of needing multiple people, Decktec™ does all the heavy lifting while you nail into position.
Simply insert your decking between the removable and non-removable spacers. Ensure that across the width of the board, it is properly set into the spacers. Then, drill or nail your decking into each Decktec™ strip until fully secured.
Repeat for each board until fully covered.
3. Remove the removable spacers
Now that your decking is in place, remove the spacers. Simply pull the removable spacers out from between the boards. The design of the Decktec™ system allows these spacers to be removed easily without specialised tools.
